YouTube Sensation Dondria “Phatfffat” Fields Earns Major-Label Record Deal.

Why anyone would seek out a Major Label record deal nowadays is beyond me. However, a few weeks ago, I came across an intriguing article in the July 14, 2008 issue of JET Magazine (with boy band New Edition on the cover). It tells the story of YouTube singing sensation
Dondria “Phatfffat” Fields and how she was signed to Record Label Deal by producer and record executive Jermaine Dupri.
Apparently, this young lady uploaded video clips of her singing R & B covers onto Youtube. Along the way, she garnered 27,000 subscribers and over a million views on YouTube.
Now, the rest is HERstory. We’ll see if this amounts to anything, but this is another example of a talent using the internet to generate interest. It worked for her and now look where she is. I’m sure the fact that Dondria Phatfffat Fields generated a LARGE FAN BASE ONLINE also helped her get a record deal. Main thing being that all those independent musicians HAVE to think about demonstrating that someone is paying attention to them. Dondria did and so far, it’s worked out beautifully for her…But this is only the beginning. Hopefully, her music sees the light of day. Dondria Phatffat Fields record label profile on its website is informative. Check it out.
Here are a few YouTube clips I was able to find of Dondria singing…
Dondria Phatfffat Fields Singing Alicia Keys “Diary”
Dondria Phatfffat Fields Singing Keyshia Cole’s “Love”
Dondria Phatfffat Fields singing Beyonce’s “Listen”.
