Super Quote — Star Jones vs. Barbara Walters
Friday, June 13, 2008 — by Wow Jones
I know this is late, but this quote is too juicy to leave alone. When in the public eye, it’s often likely you’ll get into a war of words with another celebrity. Well, if you’re gonna go that route, go hard or go home. The View co-host Barbara Walters has a new book she’s trying to sell called Audition and in the book, Barbara Walters…
Barbara Walters discusses how Star Jones wouldn’t acknowledge her gastric bypass surgery on the air in reference to Jones’ dramatic weight loss. Barbara Walters also writes abut Jones’ lavish wedding, which apparently wound up alienating viewers as Star Jones accepted gifts in return for promotion. I found this backlash amusing. Why shouldn’t Star Jones take advantage of her position to save herself some money on her wedding? Hell, everyone else in celebrity land takes advantage of their influence (albeit a little more tactfully or quitely than Star Jones did).
Anyway, in response, Star Jones said,
“It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character,” Star Jones told US Weekly magazine.
En-garde! What a quip! I doubt this’ll continue, but only Donald Trump’s insults against Rosie O’ Donnell rival this public spat.
